As part of my senior year, my school makes us take part in a yearlong project designed to be the culmination of a senior's academic experience and highlight the skills we've learned and our ability to be an independent learner. For my project, I decided to use my time and efforts to not only make the grade but to help and benefit others.
Although sexuality and gender identity has been more openly talked about and more widely accepted, many still face the everyday discrimination from the world around them. This can be especially harmful to someone of adolescent age. GLSEN is a nonprofit that works to create safe spaces in schools for LGBTQ+ youth all across the U.S. and use whatever money raised to continue their work.
