Represent is an e-commerce platform that sells celebrity merchandise to raise money for charities. Our main challenge is building a global product that scales and is as automated as possible.
Keeping our servers responsive after a client with millions of followers tweets a Represent link is a must. Caches, auto-scaling, and tuned-up nginx help. Our constantly AB-tested product pages convert the large traffic into sales.
Every order is then processed in a distributed system we've been designing for years. From the moment we get an artwork for the shirt, till the delivery to the customer's door, we only require human attention when it is unavoidable.
Ruby on Rails React React Native
Custom Ink acquired Represent in 2016. Custom Ink, just like Represent, sells customized merchandise online and we also share the technological stack. Within Custom Ink, the Represent team helps with innovative and research projects.
The core of the Custom Ink's order creation funnel is an online designer. Given the scale at which it operates, it represents a unique opportunity to test our skills to build large-scale React applications. To enhance Custom Ink's mobile experience, we designed a mobile app which brings the ordering and tracking experience to your iOS device.
With large pre-production and manufacturing divisions, we strongly push for automation. We solve hard real-world problems, by building the right tools and applying the latest machine learning algorithms. Among the projects we work on is a system that cleans up images with deep neural nets, and a tool that identifies trademarks in designs.
Scala Python TensorFlow
Separo is an in-house technology that prepares graphics for screen printing.
To be able to print complex images on fabric, one needs to print in layers. Creating these layers has traditionally been done manually and could take up to several hours. Separo combines deep color science insights with the power of optimization algorithms to automate this process.
Printers all over the world now utilize the algorithms we developed via our SaaS tool.

Engineering manager
We are looking for an engineering manager to join our office in Prague, Czech Republic. We build global products in customized apparel industry used by millions of people, biggest celebrities and Fortune 100 companies. Represent has raised tens of millions of dollars for charities through successful t-shirt campaigns.
What you’ll do
- As an engineering manager you’ll be involved in coding, and also with people, product and process.
- You’ll be working with a team of talented engineers, and making sure you create awesome products. Yes, you’ll also be coding on daily basis.
- You’ll be involved in the decisions around the design of our products, and together with our product manager have ownership over what is built.
- You’ll be influencing and setting up processes in the team so that there we constantly improve our ways of working, productivity and happiness.
- You’ll talk with our colleagues in United States to understand and solve the problems in the best possible manner.
What tools we use
- We use Ruby on Rails as our main toolkit and are happy to teach you its ins-and-outs. We rely on AWS for infrastructure to serve our software.
- We like using the right hammer for the jobs, and when it makes sense, we also employ Python, Node.js or Scala
- We strive to use React.js and Vue.js for new and shiny single-page applications, but you can encounter several of the well-known known frameworks in our myriad of production systems.
- We are constantly learning and are happy to teach you our stack, so it is fine if you’re coming from a different language.

- You’ll be thinking about our products and their customers, designing and developing interfaces, tuning the backend pieces, and making sure they scale.
- You’ll often talk with our colleagues in the United States to understand and solve the problems in the best possible manner.

Business Development Manager

We seek a professional and driven Business Development Manager who will play an essential part in the success of our organization by directly impacting revenue growth through client outreach.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales revenue through outreach to potential celebrity clients by leveraging their current network
- Organize campaign scheduling including content photoshoots, design production for apparel, and campaign launches
- Assist in campaign support where needed
- Regular sales lead generation within the entertainment sector
- Social media management of client profiles to drive marketing and revenue
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, entertainment business, management or other related field
- 3-5 years experience at an entertainment agency working directly with clients as an assistant, agent or manager
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Must be able to work independently with minimal oversight or supervision
- Exceptional verbal and written communication
Desired Qualifications
- Prior inside sales experience
